Martinique has always been about flavour, rhythm and feeling. The lush hills and glittering coastline have long set the scene for tranquillity and adventure… but now, the island’s spirit can be tasted, too. Fusion Caraïbes, a brand-new rum house based in Le Carbet, blends deep-rooted tradition with contemporary, creative techniques. Think small-batch, premium rums. Part distillery, part integrative workshop, Fusion Caraïbes produces rum that reflects Martinique’s heritage while boldly doing things a little differently.

A New Chapter for Martinique’s Rhum

Martinique’s reputation as a serious rum destination is nothing new. Fusion Caraïbes is adding a tantalizing new layer to the conversation. Officially unveiled in December in Le Carbet, the house made an immediate impression. Taking home a double gold at the Caribbean Rum Awards 2025, including top honours in the VSOP category, this new spirit powerhouse has officially made a strong debut - one that humbly signalled that this was a project worth paying attention to.

At Fusion Caraïbes, rum isn’t about chasing trends or putting out just another label. It is crafted with the same care and specialized intention as any other cherished tradition. Each sip reveals a balance of place, patience, and curiosity by drawing on local sugarcane while experimenting with cutting-edge aging and blending techniques. The result feels both exciting and rooted, honouring Martinique’s traditions while leaving room for new ideas.

ABOUT MARTINIQUE

Known as The Isle of Flowers and The Rum Capital of the World, luxuriant Martinique ranks among the most alluring and enchanting destinations worldwide. An overseas Region of France nestled in the heart of The Caribbean, Martinique’s all-encompassing natural beauty and unique cultural character has elevated the destination to international acclaim. Unspoiled beaches, volcanic peaks, lush rainforests, and gently crashing waterfalls dominate much of the landscape of Martinique, providing a contrast to its pockets of classical French architecture and luxurious villas and resorts. Seamlessly blending modern conveniences and infrastructure with the most expansive green spaces in The Caribbean, Martinique is recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve, with Mount Pelée and the Pitons of Northern Martinique recently recognized on UNESCO’s 2023 list of Natural Sites.

Martinique’s strong French influences are reflected in its official language and use of the Euro. Yet, the character of Martinique is distinctly its own: the island’s musical heritage, art, culture, and cuisine proudly honour its Creole roots. Fort-de-France, the island’s vibrant capital, showcases this dichotomy brilliantly: here, colourful dwellings mingle with sprawling gardens and stoic French cathedrals along the crescent of a scenic bay. Martinique's rich heritage is equally evident in its dynamic cuisine, reputed to borrow all the best parts from African, and Indian traditions. With over 365 restaurants and 14 rum distilleries, Martinique is where the flavours of The Caribbean come alive.

Natural wonders, inspired gastronomy, and an inimitable cultural heritage comes together in Martinique, The Caribbean’s foremost eco-destination. In 2023, Martinique claimed a coveted spot on The New York Times’ list of 52 Places to Go. The island has been twice recognized by Travel Weekly with a Gold Magellan Award as a top culinary destination, and a Silver Award as a Family-Friendly Destination.
